About Ian Clay

Ian Clay is of Scottish, Danish and English descent, born in Canada and raised throughout Alberta, including time spent living on a First Nations reservation where his parents were teachers. Clay attended King Alfred's College in the United Kingdom and shot a documentary on the lives' of travelers. He received a B.Ed in English and Drama at The University of Alberta, and holds an MFA in Creative Nonfiction from Antioch University.

He started teaching in a high school in the South Bronx before moving to Los Angeles. Losing You was his Hollywood feature debut as actor, writer, director—and invited to screen on Netflix. His short films have screened at Oscar-qualifying festivals around the world. His most recent short film, Man and the Motorcycle, starring Robert Carradine, was selected to play at Laemmle and Landmark theatres across the US. His stories have appeared in Soundings East, Santa Ana River Review, Prairie Fire, The Malahat Review, Canadian Notes & Queries, ELJ, and elsewhere.
